Heavywall Fittings

Fittings to be use with heavywall tubing, like Dripnet PC. Note that heavywall fittings are specific to the diameter of tubing, the most commonly used size is 17 mm and 18 mm is the same as 1/2″ and can be used interchangeably with 1/2″ insert fittings. The Perma-loc is a locking ring built into the fitting to secure the tubing in place.

  • To connect the heavywall dripper hose to the water source, or header, we use some form of “Starter”.
  • Typically the connection is a barbed fitting that punches a small hole into the header tubing, often coupled with a grommet to seal the hole.
  • “Starter” refers to the perma-loc tubing connection side.
  • To use: First, make sure reverse-thread locking ring is as close to the middle as possible. Next, slide the tubing over the post. Spin the locking ring towards the tube to secure it between the ring & post.
  • When connecting to the standard poly pipe, the regular starter and grommet combination can be used. When using a PVC plastic header, use the Xpando style starter & grommet.
  • Drill sizes: 400 series grommet= 9/16th drill bit size, 700 series grommet= 3/4” drill bit.
